This is an original, first year unrestored Harley-Davidson XLCR Sportster Cafe Racer that retains its original exhaust, wheels, has stock brakes and solo seat. The paint appears to  be original with the exception of the fuel tank, an older repaint. Low miles machines, (this one has only 7708 miles) are highly collectible today. Runs and rides good, but should be given basic tuneup. With little paint touch-up and good polishing this is machine any XLCR fan would be proud to ride, or enter in bike shows. Clean Iowa title.
HISTORY: Taking design cues from the sleek, minimal and wildly successful XR750 dirt track racer, Willie G. Davidson designed the XLCR to compete with the sport bikes coming out of Japan. Combining race-winning and legendary XR750 and Sportster legacy, the Cafe Racer was bit foreign to most Harley-Davidson dealers and its customer base and never really caught on. Some would say it was before its time as sport bikes from Japan and Europe, some with bikini fairings like this, were just starting to catch on. Wheels by Morris, famous for their light weight cast magnesium racing wheels, carried triple disk brakes.
