This 1977 Harley Sportster is an XLH, 1000cc, electric start Time Capsule!It still looks just the way it did when it was repainted with the Custom Flame Paint Job that it got back in the early 1980's. In 1988 it was traded in on Softail at an upstate NY, Harley dealer. Because of the custom paint and the extra chrome, the dealer was always asking too much$$ for it. Never sold it. Eventually it was moved to the back of the line, and then into the back room, where it sat for many years. That is where found it three years ago.
This Sportster starts, runs, rides and stops just like it should. It is from another era, not modern rocket, just fun to ride. This bike has the optional alloy wheeels, in good condition. Has never been down, all original equipment in great condition. Since buying it have fixed or replaced everything necessary, to make it reliable and safe to ride; New tires, new drive chain, new front brake line rebuilt caliper. New rear shocks ($300 the good ones). New starter solenoid. New front fork seals. New Battery. The handlebar switches have been rewired.Original carb has been rebuilt with Genuine H-D kit. New tail lamp wires and rear brake switch. New rider, passenger, shifter rubbers.  New lower seat, original one will be included.Accessories that were on it; Harley oil cooler, custom chrome air cleaner, chrome chain guard, smooth rear fender struts, no flashers, (OK in most states for this year). All the mechanicals are stock and original, (top bottom end) wheels, axles, lights, sheet metal, forks. Might be the original front brake disc. No guages. The paint around the fuel tank is deteriorating.      will also include new sissy bar, (short or tall, your choice) with H-D pad.ALSO- new in the original H-D box, Sportster Windshield w/ hardware.
So this is not really custom bike. Just cool older Sportster, with few period correct modifications. Great candidate for the AMCA period modified class.The AMCA is always looking for new members... check them out.
